International Opera Studio
of Dallas
Mozart and Beethoven
on April 28, 2002
Many of our patrons and friends have asked when we would be doing another concert. Now, we are pleased to announce that The International Opera Studio of Dallas is planning a concert for April 28th 2002!
Mozart's Requiem Mass and Beethoven's Opera Fidelio
IOSD
Director Sheila Jones Harms has decided to sing the Soprano part in the three solo quartets of Mozart's
Requiem, K626. The other singers performing will be Loretta Crosthwaite -
Mezzo, M. Shane Hurst - Tenor, and Donald Jones - Bass. These quartets will be accompanied by
pianist Clarece Candamio.
Clarece
Candamio will also accompany Sheila singing some of her favorite Mozart Lieder (Art Songs). We are indebted to Clarece, who is organist at Lovers Lane Methodist
Church in Dallas.
Sheila will then change hats and play for several scenes from Beethoven's opera
Fidelio. We have been planning to perform the Fidelio scenes for some time, and it so happens, as well, that the Dallas Opera is putting on
Fidelio this next season.
Presenting New Talent
The International Opera Studio of Dallas has some new talent to display to you. And, as you all know, we love to promote young talent. We
are especially proud of Loretta Crosthwaite, Shane Hurst, Christie Turner and
Donald Jones, who will be singing in the April 28th concert. See our
IOSD
Artists page to learn more about these exciting young singers.
Our wonderful mentor, Dorothea Kelley, has graciously offered to host this IOSD benefit at her home on Drexel Avenue. Dorothea will be celebrating her 96th birthday on April 15th. Three cheers for Dorothea, who is an example to us all of how music keeps us eternally young in mind and spirit.
We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the concert on April 28th. Please don't forget to R S V P.
In the meantime enjoy a wonderful Spring.
Sincerely,
Sheila Jones Harms, Director
International Opera Studio of Dallas
